The House committee on tourism has just approved House Bill No. 7562, filed by Cagayan de Oro City 2nd Dist. Rep. Maximo B. Rodriguez Jr., declaring the more than 200-year-old Dao tree in Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City as heritage tree and a tourist attraction.

In a news article by the Manila Bulletin (Read LINK), the 49-meter high Dao tree which has a diameter of 222.8 centimeters, is said to be within the E. Pelaez Ranch in Bayombong, Barangay Cugman in Cagayan de Oro City. The bill calls for the tree’s long-term protection and as a major tourist destination. Below are some photos of the heritage tree.
