Out-of-school youth and street children getting formal education by a known sectarian and prestigious university seems like an MMK story, but this will be happening more often soon with the recent signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between the City Government of Cagayan de Oro and Xavier University (XU) on the Night School Program.
City Mayor Oscar S. Moreno led the MOA signing with XU officials represented by Mr. Roel Ravanera, Vice President for Social Development; Night School Program Head Jerome Torres; and Institutional Social Engagement Director Engr. Dexter Lo.
The Night School Program innovates the Department of Education’s Alternative Learning System (ALS) curriculum through integrating values and character formation, sports development, leadership skills, basic education, among others into the phase-by-phase, 10-month module. (with text by CIO)
