Cagayan de Oro City Councilor Bong Lao on Christmas Day visited the old site of Dunkin Donuts Divisoria to check on a family making the outside premise of said establishment as their home as posted in social media which accordingly has not been acted upon by city officials.

Councilor Lao was acting on a Facebook post by netizen Clarencio Baloncio as shown below. According to Baloncio, the family has been there for a long time washing clothes, sleeping, and making it as their home and no action has been made by local officials despite complaints.

In his visit to the site today together with City Councilor Eric Salcedo, Councilor Lao learned that according to the family concerned, they were reportedly victims of Typhoon Vinta (December 2017). Lao then summoned the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) office to act on the matter.

So, if you see people living in the streets, take a photo, post in social media and tag local officials for them to act. These days, it takes social media for them to really act promptly.
