Travelers arriving at Laguindingan Airport at night are welcomed by the airport’s large signage installed at the passenger terminal building’s roof deck. Frequent travelers to Cagayan de Oro already knew the name of the airport but for first timers, the damaged lights of the signage have affected the whole spelling — it now reads LACUIN_NG_N AIR__ORT.
Here’s a photo taken a few months ago last April or about 7 months ago. It still read LAG_IN_INGAN AIRPORT.
We wonder if the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has a budget to maintain these lights. In airports, visibility is important and maintenance of lighting fixtures should be included among the annual operating expenses.
