Companies which hire at least 10 percent of their workforce for persons with disabilities (PWDs) will not be subjected to labor laws compliance inspection for a year. This was stated by Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III during a recent Jobs and Opportunities Fair for PWDs in Quezon City.
Bell said the law only requires employers to hire PWDs of a least one percent of its total labor force but if they can hire at least 10 percent, then these companies can get incentive. However, Bello said his office can still conduct inspection if a complaint is filed against the company or employer. Inspections on compliance with safety and health standards are also not covered by his pronouncement.
