You will often see motorcycles parked along sidewalks in Cagayan de Oro City’s downtown area. This is mainly due to lack of provision for parking spaces. As a consequence, pedestrians are forced to walk along the road as you may often notice.
The city’s traffic authorities recently issued ‘unattended parking’ tickets to several motorcycles parked along a stretch of the sidewalk along JR Borja Street right across Emcor.
As you can see, around six motorcycles are seen parked along the sidewalk…which has become ‘sidewalk parking’.
Despite this action, many motorists continue to defy the prohibition because as we have observed for a long time, enforcement is not sustained. Perhaps, these motorcycles should be hauled and impounded. Further, the planned government-owned pay parking building should be realized.
