Lite Ferries officially launched today, November 17, 2018, M/V LITE FERRY 18, its biggest and fastest ship serving the Cebu-Cagayan de Oro route with ceremonies held at Cagayan de Oro Port.

The ribbon cutting ceremony was led by Lite Ferries President and CEO, Lucio E. Lim, Jr. together with Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar S. Moreno and MARINA-10 Regional Director Felisa Orongan.

The 3,881-ton, 92-meter long and 17-meter wide Lite Ferry 18 is the fastest passenger vessel to date serving the Cagayan de Oro-Cebu route with a travel time of 9 hours powered by 2 brand new Ningbo diesel engines with a combined power of 7,800 HP. It has a maximum speed of 16.8 knots and service speed of 15 knots. It is also the youngest ship plying the route being built in 2002.

It can accommodate a total of 856 passengers in two economy passenger decks, a tourist class, business class and four executive cabin rooms. and boasts of hotel-like features and amenities including a fully air-conditioned 40-seater restaurant, a fully stocked canteen that is open overnight, an information desk and multi-purpose kiosk. Its deck pathways are wide and spacious in compliance to Marina and international standards.

It departs Cagayan de Oro for Cebu every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 7PM and leave Cebu for Cagayan de Oro every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7PM.

Lite Ferries presently operates a fleet of 25 roro-passenger ferries in Visayas and Mindanao with 22 destinations connecting Cebu (Cebu, Bogo, Toledo, Oslob, Samboan), Bohol (Tubigon, Tagbilaran, Jagna), Siquijor, Negros (San Carlos), Samar (Calbayog), Leyte (Ormoc), Misamis Oriental (Cagayan de Oro), Agusan del Norte (Nasipit-Butuan), Misamis Occidental (Plaridel) and Zamboanga del Norte (Dapitan). It is fully compliant with the International Safety Management Code (ISM) established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and MARINA. Lite Ferries is now also undergoing ISO certification for its operations.
