Before the advent of fastfood giants, lifestyle centers, food parks and other outdoor diners in Cagayan de Oro City, there was Twinky’s.

Occupying the space where New Dawn Hotel Plus now stands along Don Apolinar Velez and Macahambus Streets, Twinky’s Burger Hut was a popular 24-hour open air hangout place in the city during the 1980s until the early 1990s offering burgers, fries, tapsilog, tocilog, shakes and drinks. It was also a favorite spot among joggers and swimmers after a perspiring day at the Pelaez Sports Complex. It is right beside Colors Disco (now New Dawn Pensionne) making it the city’s lifestyle center during that time.
