Amid the festivities relating to AirAsia’s coming back to Cagayan de Oro today, did you know that the airline’s first ever domestic flight in the Philippines was actually in Cagayan de Oro City on Christmas Eve?

As disclosed by AirAsia Philippines CEO Captain Dexter Comendador, the airline was yet to start its commercial domestic operations when they were granted to airlift 8.5 tons of high energy biscuits donated by the United Nations World Food Program on December 24, 2011, about a week after both Cagayan de Oro and Iligan Cities were ravaged by Typhoon Sendong. Capt. Comendador was part of the plane crew. (SOURCE)
