Commuting from Bugo to Opol and vice-versa in one single ride? This might come to reality soon after the Cagayan de Oro City Council endorsed last month the application of Oro Transport Service Cooperative to operate public utility vehicles (PUV) along the developmental route thru the Coastal Road.
City Council Resolution No. 13063 approved on September 10 was endorsed to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
Except for buses, there are currently no PUVs operating along the Coastal Road. Also, commuters from Bugo need to ride PUVs three times to reach Opol. First is to ride a jeep/bus to Agora, then another ride to Westbound Terminal in Bulua and finally, another ride to Opol.
With the planned new route, commuters only need to ride one PUV to get to opposite destinations. However, the Coastal Road still needs to be connected at Puntod for a traffic-free travel.
