Being part of the National Broadband Plan (NBP), the pilot project testing will involve lighting up portions of the 6,154-kilometer dark fiber network of National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

According to DICT Acting Secretary Eliseo M. Rio Jr., seven point-to-point routes in Benguet, Tarlac, Pampanga, Batangas, Mindoro, Albay, Camarines Sur, Cagayan, and Bohol were identified for the pilot project.

Among the selected public places for the free wifi include public schools, public parks and plazas, public libraries, state universities and colleges, government offices, government hospitals, airports, seaports and train stations nationwide.
