The Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office No. 10 (DPWH-10) and Limketkai Group are still on a stalemate as to finding a solution that would connect the Agora drainage to Bitan-ag Creek.
The latest is that DPWH-10 has offered its last option (4th) drainage route to Limketkai which will now be along CM Recto Avenue but will pass under the overpass which would require excavation works right in front of Jollibee Gateway. It might also affect the overpass due to alteration of the road design. See map below.
Accordingly, DPWH-10 wants the help of the City Government thru the City Council to call for a meeting with Limketkai, Mr. Hong See (Puregold site), USTP officials and local barangay officials once the engineering plan and design of the latest option.
Reports state that Limketkai had rejected plans of the drainage route along Limketkai Avenue right in front of Limketkai Luxe Hotel. Based on the original plan by the DPWH, the ongoing 2-barrel diversion drainage line along Valenzuela Avenue (Agora Road) will connect to Bitan-ag Channel thru Limketkai Avenue as shown below.
The Agora diversion line is just one of several projects related to solving urban flooding particularly along the section of CM Recto Avenue between Limketkai and USTP and the vicinity of of Bitan-ag Creek. Others are the ongoing bridge construction at Gaabucayan Street and Bitan-ag Creek widening.
