The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued Public Health Warnings against the purchase and use of six cosmetic products allegedly “containing banned ingredients.”

According to FDA advisories No. 2018-274 and No. 2018-275, the six products were identified as follows:

  • BEAUCHE REJUVENATING CREAM
  • SKINWHITE® POWERWHITENING® WHITENING LOTION INSTANT WHITE SPF 20

  • BEAUCHE CLARIFYING SOLUTION
  • BRILLIANT SKIN ESSENTIALS WHITENING FACIAL TONER
  • DROPLETS OF NATURE LIFT & CORRECT REJUVENATING TONER

Accordingly, BEAUCHE REJUVENATING CREAM tested positive for the presence of HYDROQUINONE and TRETINOIN, ingredients that are not allowed to be part of a cosmetic as per Annex II Part 1 of the Asean Cosmetic Directive. More details in the link below.

Meanwhile, SKINWHITE® POWERWHITENING® WHITENING LOTION INSTANT WHITE SPF 20, SKINWHITE® POWERWHITENING® WHITENING LOTION KOJIC ACID SPF 20, BEAUCHE CLARIFYING SOLUTION, BRILLIANT SKIN ESSENTIALS WHITENING FACIAL TONER, and DROPLETS OF NATURE LIFT & CORRECT REJUVENATING TONER all tested positive for the presence of HYDROQUINONE, an ingredient that is not allowed to be part of a cosmetic as per Annex II Part 1 of the Asean Cosmetic Directive. Details in the link below.

Because the said products are not compliant with the existing standards, the FDA strongly advised consumers to be vigilant against their purchase and use. The advisory stated that the use of these products can pose potential health hazards to the consuming public and may result to adverse reactions including but not limited to skin irritation, itchiness, anaphylactic shock and organ failure.

The FDA also advised the public to always check if a cosmetic product has been notified with FDA before purchasing it by making use of the embedded Search feature of the FDA website accessible at www.fda.gov.ph.
