The Municipality of Manolo Fortich is now on its way in becoming a city after Bukidnon 1st Dist. Rep. Maria Lourdes Acosta-Alba filed House Bill 8115 seeking to convert Manolo Fortich into a component city. Once approved, it will be the 3rd city in Bukidnon Province and also the 3rd city in the metropolitan area of Cagayan de Oro.
In its explanatory note, the proposal underscored Manolo Fortich as being consistent among the most competitive municipalities in the country for the past several years including a Top 20 ranking in 2017 in terms of economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure and resiliency.
Based on the 2015 census, Manolo Fortich has a population of 100,210 people. It covers a total area of 413.60 sq km. Based on its annual revenue of around P290 million (2016), it is classified as a 1st class municipality.
