The City Government of Cagayan de Oro, Philippines is pushing to forge a sisterhood agreement with the city of Verona in Italy in a bid to promote mutual understanding and goodwill as well as technical exchange and cooperation on various dimensions of local governance.

In a resolution approved by the City Council last July 16, 2018, Resolution No. 13023-2018 states the city’s desire and interest for formal linkage between the city and Verona, a city in the northeastern part of Italy which has been awarded World Heritage Site status by UNESCO because of its urban structure and architecture.

Verona is also famous for being the setting of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.
