The Bureau of Customs (BOC) yesterday seized some P35 million worth of smuggled garlic and used clothing (ukay-ukay) placed in fourteen (14) container vans at the Mindanao International Container Terminal (MICT) in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.

BOC Commissioner Isidro Lapeña said the contraband were misdeclared with nine (9) container vans of used clothing (ukay-ukay) from Korea declared as used bags and shoes worth P25 million and five containers of garlic mixed with onions from China worth P11 million. Accordingly, shipments of onions and used clothing are banned due to health concerns.
