The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) thru Resolution No. 097-2018 and CHED Implementing Order dated 29 May 2018 has allowed the continued operation of the External Study Centers (ESC) of Bukidnon State University (BUKSU) located in the towns of Sugbongcogon, Alubijid, Medina, Talisayan, Salay and in Gingoog City in Misamis Oriental subject to several conditions. However, ESCs in MOGCHS-Cagayan de Oro, Libertad, Manticao, Magsaysay and Kinoguitan will have to be closed via phase-out process.

This is in relation to the planned phase out of all ESCs of BUKSU. However, their continued operation will be subject to conditions such as allocation of budget for Fiscal Year 2019 for Capital Outlay, Personnel Services, and Maintenance and Operating Expenses, among others for the said ESCs so they can be transformed into satellite campuses of BUKSU. Non-compliance to said conditions will mean immediate closure of the ESCs by CHED Region 10 who will facilitate the transfer of affected students to nearby higher education institutions (HEIs).

It can be recalled that a consultative meeting was held in February this year on the planned closure.
