Expect heavy traffic along Masterson Avenue when the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) starts its slope protection works along the lower portion of Carmen Hill Just below Pryce Plaza in Cagayan de Oro City.

As shown, the project billboard has been installed onsite. The project probably aims to reinforce the current bare slope and protect it from slip, collapse and landslide especially during the rainy season.

As indicated, the total project cost amounts to P45.5 million. A bunkhouse for the contractor is being constructed at the downslope which has been identified as Ven Ray Construction Corp.

The project is just timely with the onset of the rainy season and the opening of classes.

This section of Masterson Avenue only has two lanes and traffic is heavy especially during rush hours.

When work starts, a portion of the city-bound lanes will be closed for the work. Motorists are cautioned to drive slow onsite.

It can be recalled that in January 2017, a heavy downpour caused a landslide at the said area Masterson Avenue cutting the major link between the city’s uptown and downtown areas. Rocks and uprooted vegetation spilled unto the road blocking traffic. Read our post below.
