Cagayan de Oro’s amateur boxing team won all of its final matches in boxing including a sensational 2nd round TKO win by Sugar Rey Ocaña at 64 kgs. at the close of the 2018 Philippine National Games at the Cebu Coliseum.
Other boxing gold medalists include Mark Lester Durenz (49 kgs), John Ignatius Macas (52 kgs) and John Paul Panuayan (60 kgs). In the distaff side, Elaide Pamisa (49 kgs) and Jema Baja (51 kgs) also brought home the gold.
Elaide Pamisa (49kgs) won Cagayan de Oro’s first gold beating Leyte’s Myra Nacario via 4-1 decision.
Jema Baja (51 kgs) beat Leyte’s Judy Ann Orbeta via 5-0 shutout win.
Mark Lester Durenz (49 kgs) beat Cebu City’s John Paul Gabunelas via a close 3-2 decision.
John Ignatius Macas (52 kgs) beat Jobert Paala of Sultan Kudarat via 5-0 unanimous decision.
John Paul Panuayan (60 kgs) beat John Regis of Cebu City via RSC-Injury at 2:58 of round 2.
Sugar Rey Ocaña (64 kgs) beat Jerome Panganiban of Leyte by TKO at 2:58 of Round 2.
