Cagayan de Oro’s Jeremiah ‘JB’ Borlongan’s breakout season turned out to be a major contribution to the University of the Philippines’ title run in the Universities Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP).
Borlongan scored a total of 9 goals during the eliminations as the UP Fighting Maroons remained unbeaten in 15 matches to become the top seed.
In the UAAP title game against University of Sto. Tomas, Borlongan curled a free kick over a wall of defenders and tournament MVP Ian Clarino scored the only goal to give UP its second title in three years. More details below.
