The City Government of Cagayan de Oro is planning to beautify the Divisoria area at a cost of P80 million which will be funded by Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III. This was revealed by City Mayor Oscar Moreno who also disclosed plans to construct a new amphitheater at the very same site where the old amphitheater used to stand.
According to a news report from Mindanao Gold Star Daily, the proposal covers the area bounded by Burgos Street and Corrales Avenue and will include improving of the park and lighting facilities as well as restoration of the amphitheater (see below) and turning it into a landmark. Further, closing RN Abejuela and Tirso Neri Streets of vehicular traffic is also being studied.
