Three soldiers were wounded when a raiding team from Task Force Oro were met with gunfire while trying to serve search warrants at around 2:00am Saturday, April 21 at a compound in Brgy. Kinawe, Libona, Bukidnon with suspected links to Kuratong Baleleng, a known crime-syndicate based in Misamis Occidental.

In a news report from Gold Star Daily (full details in link below), the firefight lasted for about 30 minutes and resulted to the arrest of Cherry Barros, the barangay chair of Kinawe, Libona and several others. Authorities seized several high-powered firearms and ammunition including grenades and bomb-making materials.

Meanwhile, the wounded soldiers were immediately brought to hospitals in Cagayan de Oro City where they are now recuperating.

Cherry’s husband, Tarcisio escaped during the firefight together with an unidentified companion and are believed to be armed.
