Northern Mindanao’s secondary girls swimming team pulled the rug from under favorites National Capital Region to win the gold in the 4×50 meter freestyle relay in the ongoing 2018 Palarong Pambansa at the Quirino Stadium in Bantay, Ilocos Sur.

The quartet of Necei Grace Bullecer, Jindsy Azze Dasion, Gene Heart Qiambao and Aubrey Sheian Bermejo won the gold with a time of 1:56.94 beating the NCR Team which had Palaro record holders Althea Baluyot and Raven Alcoseba.

Meanwhile, the quartet of Enzo Izak Ben Malayang, Merrell James Neri, Chad Russel Espinas and Josie Marie Nave finished a strong second in the 4×50 meter freestyle secondary boys relay.

The quartet finished with a time of 1:43.95 to bag the silver medal.

Taekwondo produced another gold with Laizel Angela Abucay in secondary girls 52 kg Kyurogi event.

In boxing, Northern Mindanao sent six (6) boxers into the finals: J. Acaylar (pinweight), JJ Odvina (light bantamweight), DB Caspe (bantamweight), Mark Lester Durens (light flyweight), JE Palivino (flyweight), and Wesly Caga (lightweight). They will all go for the gold tonight.

As of 4:22pm today, NMRAA remains in 7th place with 14 golds, 15 silvers and 21 bronze medals.
