The Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA) looks to improve its 8th place finish in last year’s Palarong Pambansa as the annual sporting event officially kicked off today with the traditional parade of athletes at the Quirino Stadium in Bantay, Ilocos Sur.

Some 12,000 athletes and coaches coming from seventeen (17) regions from all over the country are participating in this year’s palaro from April 15-21.

The delegation from Northern Mindanao are housed at the Narvacan Central High School.

Last year, the Tangerine Volts finished with 20 golds, 20 silvers and 42 bronzes.

Before the parade of athletes at the stadium, the delegations marched through the streets of Vigan City in Ilocos Sur. Shown below are Tangering Volts in their traditional orange-colored uniforms and umbrellas from the summer heat.
