Contrary to rumors, Seven Seas Waterpark & Resort located in Barra, Opol, Misamis Oriental is NOT being subject to a closure order from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB). This was emphasized by Engr. Elpidio Paras, president of UC-1 Corporation which owns the waterpark, who cited the supposed closure order may be related to the Boracay issue and some media outlets may have confused the waterpark in Northern Mindanao with another hotel project in Boracay which also bears the same name.
In a report from SunStar CDO, Paras said a team from the DENR and Department of Tourism recently conducted an inspection on his waterpark and found no violations. More details in the link below.
Seven Seas Hotel and Residences is a hotel project in Boracay which has been drawing controversy since 2015 when it was constructed without an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) from the DENR-EMB and also was reportedly built illegally on a wetland (SOURCE).
Meanwhile, Seven Seas Waterpark was once again was packed during the recent long weekend.
