Cagayan de Oro’s Mark John Yap successfully defended his Orient Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) bantamweight title for the third time with a unanimous decision win against Japanese challenger Takafumi Nakajima at the Korakuen Hall last Wednesday, April 4 in Tokyo, Japan.
The Osaka-based Yap won in all judges’ scorecards: 116-112, 116-112 and 117-111.
With the win, Yap hopes he can get a shot at a world title. He is currently ranked No. 5 by the WBC and No. 8 by the IBF, with both titles vacant. See boxing rankings below as of April 1, 2018.
