We have featured trash being left behind in Malasag and Sipaka by pilgrims doing their ‘Panaad’. The route to Guadalupe Shrine in Tablon, Cagayan de Oro City is no exception as well.
As shown in the following photos courtesy of Cagayan de Oro Today, cellophanes, plastics bottles and other sort of garbage are scattered on the ground.
This place is basically rural and only becomes overpopulated during the Lenten season. Radio reports indicate some 7,000 people took the route to Guadalupe Shrine.
And you can see tons of trash being left behind…
…and the task of cleaning is left to the local folk and officials. Again, hopefully, garbage bins and warning signs will be placed along the route next year.
