BINIGNIT is a popular and favorite Filipino dish and is most widely cooked during the Holy Week. Although cooking and ingredients vary by region, the main product basically remains the same as a traditional merienda food.

But before cooking, prepare the main ingredients:

  • Glutinous rice (pilit)
  • Purple yam (ube)
  • Taro (gabi)
  • Bananas (saba)
  • Sweet potato (kamote)
  • Tapioca
  • Sago
  • Jackfruit (nangka)
  • Landang
  • Coconut milk (grated)
  • Water
  • Brown sugar

You can buy many of these ingredients in the markets already packed in one. Watch as our friend Kyle ‘Kulas’ Jennerman takes us on a step by step process in cooking Binignit.
