Kagayanon guard Jio Jalalon scored 11 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, had 2 steals and dished out a series-high 13 assists to earn Best Player honors as the Magnolia Hotshots beat the NLEX Road Warriors, 96-89, tonight at the Smart Araneta Coliseum to advance to the PBA Philippine Cup finals series against powerhouse San Miguel Beer.

Jalalon came off the bench when NLEX was doing things right leading by as much as 11 points and then slowly changed the game’s tempo as Magnolia battled back to make the game close. He also shrugged off a blooded mouth and a swollen eye after JR Quinahan’s hard foul which caused the latter’s ejection in the 2nd quarter. In the end game, Magnolia proved steadier to wrap up the best-of-seven semi-finals duel, 4-2, and arranged a finals series against the Beermen which starts this Friday, March 23.
