The Westbound Integrated Bus and Jeepney Terminal and Public Market is a facility owned by the City Government of Cagayan de Oro and was built sometime in 2004 (don’t know exact year) to decongest Agora Bus Terminal as well as minimize traffic at the city proper by eliminating the entry of buses.
Sadly, the complex has not gone improvement over the years and its dilapidated condition greets tourists as they embark from buses and jeepneys arriving at the terminal for the first time. With regular land trips to and from western municipalities of Misamis Oriental or western part of Mindanao including Iligan, Marawi, Tangub, Ozamiz, Oroquieta, Dapitan, Dipolog, Pagadian and Zamboanga Cities, thousands are welcomed by the facility which clearly shows its decline. As shown in this photo below, the solid structure contrasts the dirt and its gloomy state.
And its walkway canopies looked like it was battered by a strong typhoon.
We don’t know if City Hall has plans to modernize the complex.
But certainly, it badly needs a major renovation … something the city can be proud of to greet tourists.
