Cagayan de Oro fashion designer Melody “Mimi” Parrel-Pimentel has brought her creative Filipino collection to the House of iKons fashion show held at the Gloucester Millennium Hotel in London.
Pimentel who gained national recognition after designing President Rodrigo Duterte’s barong during his inauguration, showcased a 20-piece collection of barong with T’nalak embroidery and Mindanao silk, and a clever mix of Philippine fabrics, such as pinya for women.
The fashion show also featured collections by other Filipino designers Che Arunjuez and Aandrei David.
The London Fashion Week is a clothing trade show that takes place in London twice a year (February and September) showcasing designers to a global audience of influential media and retailers. It is considered one of the “Big Four” fashion weeks, along with the New York, Milan and Paris.
