Paul Lee put on a clinic, toyed with all defenders and scored 21 points as the Magnolia Hotshots routed the Meralco Bolts, 94-65, before a jampacked Xavier University Gym in Cagayan de Oro City today, February 24, 2018.

Lee set the tone early hitting a 3-point shot to start the game and went on a scoring spree in the second half as Magnolia solidified its twice-to-beat advantage and eliminated the Bolts in the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup.

Meralco was still in the game until it lost guard Baser Amer due to a bad fall off a fake by Rodney Brondial in the first half. The Hotshots then stretched their lead in the 3rd Quarter and pulled away as the listless Bolts continued to fire blanks.

Meralco sorely missed the services of the injured Cliff Hodge. Ranidel de Ocampo was in uniform after recovering from an injury but was not fielded in by Coach Norman Black. Magnolia also played without CDO native Jio Jalalon who is with Gilas Pilipinas now preparing for the game against Japan tomorrow in the 2019 Fiba World Cup Asian qualifiers at Mall of Asia Arena.

The scores:

Magnolia 94 – Lee 21, Sangalang 12, Herndon 10, Melton 8, Simon 8, Barroca 7, Mendoza 5, Reavis 4, Pingris 4, Gamalinda 4, Brondial 4, Pascual 4, Dela Rosa 3.

Meralco 65 – Newsome 13, Sedurifa 10, Lanete 9, Caram 8, Ballesteros 6, Amer 5, Salva 4, Canaleta 4, Faundo 4, Hugnatan 2, Dillinger 0, Bono 0, Tolomia 0, Baracael 0.
