Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin Uy is now the new Mayor of Cagayan de Oro City after the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) served the dismissal order against incumbent City Mayor Oscar Moreno last Monday (February 5) at 3:48pm.

Moreno was ordered dismissed by the Ombudsman after being found guilty of Grave Misconduct, Serious Dishonesty and Conduct Prejudicial to the Best Interest of the Service  due to an anomalous heavy equipment lease agreement from October 2009 to October 2010 when he was still Governor of Misamis Oriental. Others dismissed were Elmer Wabe (former Acting Provincial Budget Officer), Patrick Gabutina (former Provincial Administrator) and Rolando Pacuribot (former Assistant Provincial Engineer).
