An expressway linking Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City is now being pushed. This was revealed by National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA-10) Regional Director Leon M. Dacanay Jr. during the recent television program “Ang Cagayan de Oro Kagahapon, Karon ug Ugma”.
This revelation could actually be the specific detail on one of the feasibility studies with a P10 million budget (Iligan-Cagayan de Oro Alternate Route) in the recently approved General Appropriations Act under RA 10964 signed by President Rodrigo Duterte as indicated below.
Accordingly, regional planners came up with the idea after the initial phase of the Mindanao Railway went to Davao instead of the Cagayan-Iligan route which was the mentioned as the first phase of the railway by previous studies.
When realized, the usual 2-hour travel time could be much less…say perhaps 45 minutes?
