Cagayan de Oro City Councilor Zaldy Ocon was ordered suspended for six months without pay after the Office of the Ombudsman found him guilty of Conduct Prejudicial to the Best Interest of the Service. The Ombudsman also found probable cause against Ocon for violation of Article 359 (Slander by Deed) of the Revised Penal Code.
In a press release posted in the Ombudsman’s website and Facebook page, Ocon was suspended for slapping a traffic enforcer for issuing him a parking ticket in a “No Parking Zone” in November 30, 2016. Ric Emmanuel Agustin, a traffic enforcer of the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) filed the complaint after the councilor slapped him during a meeting arranged by RTA Chairman Engr. Nonito Oclarit to settle the issue.
