The architect who was arrested yesterday by a joint team led by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) was a person-of-interest in the murder last December 2, 2017 of Dr. Ricardo Rotoras, president of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP).
Architect Rey Galua, 43, was detained after the raid in his house at Pueblo Golf Estates in Cagayan de Oro City yielded several firearms, explosives and ammunition. The raid was conducted by virtue of a search warrant issued by a court in Gingoog City. However, authorities clarified that the raid was not linked to the Rotoras case. But they will gather any information which will help in the investigation.
Galua was a former faculty of the university and designed most of the new buildings in the campus.
