The Bukidnon Airport Development Project located in Don Carlos, Bukidnon will finally take off this year (2018) after the national government allocated some P425 million for the first commercial airport in the province for a long time.
As shown below, the project was included under the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) budget for 2018.
Meanwhile, funds for the construction and improvement of all road networks leading to the proposed airport have likewise been allocated by the DPWH amounting to a total of P650 million as shown below.
The proposed airport will be at the former Maraymaray Airstrip located some 6 kilometers northwest of the town proper. It was owned by a Cojuangco firm during Marcos time until it was sequestered after the 1986 EDSA Revolution. Much of the surrounding property had been planted to sugarcane and other crops. Below is the conceptual design of the Passenger Terminal Building.
