Motorists from the Macasandig area won’t have to go thru the chaotic traffic in Cogon in going to Lapasan or other eastern barangays when the proposed Cagayan de Oro New Eastern Diversion Road will be realized.
The said project has an initial allotment of P100 million based on the General Appropriations Act (GAA) for 2018 which was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte.
There are no details yet as to the exact specific route of the proposed new diversion road but we can visualize it basing from the project title itself:
Jct South Diversion Road / Mandumol-Nazareth-Camaman-an-Justo Ramonal-Jct / JR Borja-LKKS-BCIR/ Lapasan
If the Nazareth-Camaman-an-Justo Ramonal Jct is a clue, then this route will likely traverse the hillside portion of Nazareth then towards Camaman-an (JR Borja Extension) and exiting towards Limketkai Drive (an extension of Justo Ramonal). Certainly it will be implemented with the most feasible route including least costs of right-of-way. Presently, motorists avoid the traffic in Cogon by accessing 22nd street and exiting thru a narrow road towards Hayes Street near Maria Reyna Hospital.
