Weather bureau PAG-ASA has released a statement regarding posts currently circulating in social media about a super typhoon to affect the country in January 2018.
In a press release, PAG-ASA’s Weather Division Chief Esperenza O. Cayanan, Ph.D. said it is normal to have 0-1 tropical cyclone in January. However, she added that “predicting the tropical cyclone intensity to reach super typhoon category for more than 1 week ahead has a very high uncertainty. The atmosphere is very dynamic hence constant monitoring is necessary.” She also advised the public to listen only to right authority so as not to cause panic. Read the full text below.
