Eight (8) inmates at the Misamis Oriental Provincial Jail (MOPJ) got their best Christmas gift after they were granted freedom after benefitting from the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) credit scheme.

Governor Yevgeny “Bambi” Emano presented the eight MOPJ inmates during the “Pasko sa Binilanggo” held last December 18, 2017 at the facility. The freed inmates are: Jose Sacote, Lyndon Looc, Richard Baradillo, John Terry Tacasan, Buenaventura Raterta, Ramil Nabaluna, Jess Hallasgo and Mario Oben. Each also received P1,500.00 from the governor as extra money as they go back to their families.

The new GCTA law enacted under Republic Act 10592 empowered the Chief of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) or the Warden of a local jail to grant allowances for good conduct and behavior of inmates.
