Local boy Renz Alexander Lumban set a new Philippine record of 13.95 seconds in the 3x3x3 one-handed average time during the recent Cagayan de Oro Open 2017 : The Barkada Kontra Droga Speedcubing Challenge held last November 18, 2017 at the Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School (MOGCHS).

Lumban’s average speedcubing time of 13.95 seconds using one hand broke the 14.18 seconds set by Nathaniel Ortega during the Philippine Championship held in September 2017 in Marikina City. Lumban’s times are: 14.36, 14.41, 12.66, 13.08 and 14.41 seconds.


Lumban also holds the fastest single solve time using one hand of 11.05 seconds also set during the Philippine Open in September 2017. See link below.

The Cagayan de Oro Open was organized by the Philippine Cubers Association (PCA) and just the second speedcubing competition held in the city since 2012.
