In another change of schedule, Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar and other key officials will be attending tomorrow’s inauguration of both the Coastal Road and Igpit Bridge Projects. This was announced thru DPWH-10’s official Facebook page.
The formal inauguration of the Coastal Road was earlier moved from November 10 to November 24. But in the end, Secretary Villar finally decided on tomorrow’s schedule.
Meanwhile, the Igpit Bridge Project involves the widening and replacement of the existing 2-lane bridge into 6 lanes including approaches along the Cagayan de Oro-Iligan Road (BCIR) or the National Highway. The bridge has a length of 45 LM while the road has a length of about 1.165 LM.
The existing 2-lane bridge was demolished, widened to 6 lanes and elevated by about 3.50m from the existing grade line. Reconstruction of the bridge was done in progressive approach due to phase by phase funding releases and to avoid traffic stoppage since there was no other route to be utilized to redirect the incoming and outgoing motoring public.
The inauguration is also timely with the 13th Annual National Convention of the District Engineers League of the Philippines (DELP) being held in the city.
