Construction of the 660-meter Bonbon-Macabalan Bridge Project has progressed significantly. It is the 8th bridge spanning Cagayan de Oro River.
Latest construction photos onsite revealed one span of reinforced concrete deck girders are now in place. This is on the Bonbon side.
You can also see several piers now completed which act as support to the girders.
The bridge project will connect the coastal barangays of Bonbon and Macabalan. As of today, much of the work is on the Bonbon side.
Construction work is going full blast.
This project will help decongest traffic in existing bridges in the city. Trucks bound for the port will be diverted to this bridge.
Several heavy equipment are also observed onsite. These cranes help put the girders in place.
UKC Builders is the main contractor of the bridge project.
You can see the nipa area in the background.
Fortunately, the bridge project avoided the lush nipa plantation.
