Cagayan de Oro City recently bagged the Seal of Good Education Governance given by Synergeia Foundation, in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd Philippines), PLDT and Smart Communications, Inc. and supported by USAID.

CDO is one of two cities and 22 municipalities which received the award during the National Education Summit held last September 29, 2017 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Manila.

In USAID Philippines’ Facebook page (see below), the said local government units have demonstrated a commitment to improving education governance. All nominees were assessed on a transparent criteria including, the effective and efficient use of the Special Education Fund; community involvement in identifying education priorities; and an increase in student learning outcomes. All recipients received incentive packages from PLDT and Smart Communications, worth up to P1.5 million each.
