An inclement weather couldn’t stop President Rodrigo Roa Duterte from attending the 26th Mindanao Business Conference (MINBIZCON) at Xavier Sports and Country Club in Cagayan de Oro City.

Scheduled to deliver his keynote speech during the closing ceremony of the 3-day conference yesterday, September 9 at 3:00pm, Duterte arrived almost three hours later.

Before starting his speech, Duterte apologized to the participants who waited nearly three hours. Further information revealed he was on time in his arrival at Laguindingan Airport but his helicopter was not given clearance to land at Rosevale Football Field inside Xavier Estates due to heavy rains in Uptown Cagayan de Oro. When the rains lightened up, the helicopters encountered low-lying clouds blocking the landing area. Accordingly, they circled the site several times until they finally landed.

Duterte was already speaking for 30 minutes before he started to read his prepared speech…to the delight of the crowd. At the end of his speech, he was literally mobbed by the participants who wanted to take a photo and selfie with him.
