Star 8 Green Technology Corporation, a partner of Australia-based Star 8 Green Technology is offering to give 500 e-jeepneys among public transport groups in Cagayan de Oro City.
In a report from SunStar CDO, the offer was made to three transport groups in the city namely, Cagayan de Oro’s First Taxi Drivers Alliance (CAFITADA), Transport Federation of Cagayan de Oro (TRAFECO) and Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operators Nationwide (PISTON).
Accordingly, the 500 units will be given free provided the drivers will undergo training and seminar following the company’s system. In the proposal, drivers will received a daily wage of P500 for an 8-hour work. The e-jeepneys will be turned over to the drivers after 5 years.
The proposal is also in line with the government’s plan to modernize public transport which include the phase out of diesel-fed jeepneys.
