Cagayan de Oro’s Banjo Norte, arguably one of the best triathletes in the country today, became the first ever Asian Elite Champion in the just concluded Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 Philippines held in Cebu City today.
The 24-year old Norte who won the event way back in 2013 was the top Asian finisher of the race dominated by foreigners led by 3-peat champ Tim Reed of Australia who finished first at 3 hours 54 minutes and 7 seconds. Norte clocked 4:35:51 but was the first Asian at the finish line. More details from Rappler.com.
