The municipal government of Magsaysay in Misamis Oriental is proposing a 300-hectare economic zone. The proposal as presented will be a mix of Agro-Industrial, Tourism and IT ecozones that includes an internal port, cable cars, and food centers to complement the ecozone developments.
The proposal as posted in Facebook by Mr. Elmer Francisco, Special Advisor to the Director General for North America and ASEAN at Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), is envisioned to spur development in the eastern part of the province and the region as a whole, attract locators and generate employment.
Based on the photo above, the proposed site is just south of the town proper of Magsaysay (upper portion of photo) bounded by Linugos River near the boundary with the town of Carmen in Agusan del Norte Province. Here’s a shot from Google Earth showing paddies or fishponds.
Here are photos of the proposed site from Google Street View.
The proposal was presented by Engr. Modesto Babaylan and Architect Richard Tan, the designer of the master plan.
