A joint police operation led by Police Chief Inspector Ariel Philip Pontillas of the City Intelligence Unit of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) intercepted some 8,000 rounds of ammunition at the premises of a forwarding company in Brgy. Camaman-an, Cagayan de Oro City.

In a press conference yesterday, police state the operation held last Friday, June 23, yielded 6,000 rounds of M16 ammunition and 2,000 rounds for .30 caliber gun.

Further investigation also revealed that a taxi driver was supposed to pick up the items upon orders by a Muslim man. Police later found out the taxi driver had already surrendered to authorities last Monday. After a thorough investigation, police have also identified the Muslim man who is using fictitious names. Police also said they are still looking into further details as to the origin of the items.
