Former Presidential Commission on Good Government chairman Camilo Sabio has been found guilty of graft by the Sandiganbayan over two anomalous car lease contracts without public bidding when he was PCGG Chairman.
The Cagayan de Oro-born Sabio is facing up to twenty (20) years in prison after the anti-graft court convicted him last June 22, 2017 for entering into a lease deal with UCPB Leasing and Finance Corporation without public bidding.
Based on a report from Philstar.com, the court said the prosecution team from the Ombudsman has proven “beyond reasonable doubt” that Sabio authorized the lease agreements without the necessary procedures of public bidding required under Republic Act 9184 or the Government Procurement Reform Act.
The lease contracts were worth P12.127 million.
Sabio will reportedly file an appeal.
